FAUN MUNICIPAL VEHICLES ENGAGES ITS WORKFORCE TO TRANSFORM BUSINESS

When its MD wanted to change the way his company trained and engaged its workforce, FAUN Municipal Vehicles worked with EEF to create a transformative management and change programme.

Overview

Based in Anglesey, with a turnover of £25m in 2009, FMV is part of the large European company FAUN. Its MD, J Alun Jones, was a keen advocate of FAUN's German training programme, and wanted to look afresh at the way FMV trained its people.

Specifically he wanted to give more responsibility to employees in various sectors of the business and so free up more of his small senior management team's time to focus on the strategy and direction of the business. Faced with a tough economic environment in which he couldn't pay more, and a structure that meant he couldn't easily promote – FMV wanted to think differently.

"We hadn't done anything like this before" says Alun. "So we really wanted a training partner – not just another provider."

Wales-based FAUN TRACKWAY, a market leading designer and manufacturer of portable roadways and temporary aircraft landing mats, has incorporated a new company and opened a North American office in Washington, D.C. following introductions to the U.S. defense market by representatives of the Welsh Government.
